Scholarship Selection

Dear Members –

My dad recently challenged me to perfect the “elevator pitch” for what Butter Cut Country Club is all about and it’s been a challenge as I’ve never been very concise. I’m still not, but this is my best shot. We live for a weekend down in Pinehurst with good friends. We love a cold Coors Light in a big leather chair with sunburnt shoulders and sore legs. We love a nice par save from the bunker to break 80. And of course, we love the feeling of hitting a buttery cut. But I think the central pillar of the club is that we love to use our positions of privilege to grow the game and give young men and women the same opportunities that we’ve got. With that being said, I’m thankful to announce that we’ve awarded our first two recipients of our scholarship to the Wake Forest Summer Golf Camps: Leah Edwards and Hershal Patel.

Your generosity is the reason both of these young golfers have this incredible opportunity to look forward to this summer. We are confident that this is just the beginning of the positive impact that BCCC can achieve with your support. Our vision is to expand the scholarship to a wider variety of summer golf programs, support our players’ competitive spirit by covering tournament fees, and ultimately, help them find a home at the collegiate level. We cannot express our gratitude enough for your continued interest in supporting these young golfers.

Leah Edwards goes to Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro. She’s in the class of 2025 and loves golf because it allows her to spend time outside and with her friends. She’s got two hole in ones and her favorite player is Annika Sorenstam

Hershal Patel goes to West Forsyth High School in Winston Salem and is in the class of 2024. He’s passionate about golf because he gets to spend time with his dad, and he loves to compete. He first started playing when he was ten.
