Leah Edwards - Golf Outing
On Saturday, myself and Rad were fortunate enough to play with our girl’s scholarship recipient Leah Edwards. On the unfortunate side of that coin, we were rained out after 4 holes. We’re re-scheduling for another round in the next few weeks but I wanted to put some thoughts on paper, so everybody was still in the loop.
• She is a player. She hits high bombs off the tee. On the Par 5 she missed the green right on her second and left herself short sided. She then hit a beautiful flop to ten feet to give herself a great look at birdie – the best she could do from that position
• She is always trying to get better – after the round she asked for a quick mini-lesson from the Quail assistant pro Luis, and by all accounts is a grinder back in Greensboro
• Her dream school is Wake Forest, and she was even wearing a pair of old Wake Forest golf shoes. Face time in front of Coach Llewellyn at the camp was extremely valuable to her
Overall, it was a great experience and we got to hangout for an hour or two before we called it because the of the rain. I think she’s a great representation of what we’re looking for with the BCCC Scholarship – strong players with good etiquette and competitive drive for the game.
